About Us
FLARE Darmstadt is a student driven aerospace association that designs, builds, and flies innovative UAVs while promoting scientific thinking and social inclusion. We create accessible engineering opportunities for people of different ages and backgrounds, and we support students who want real project experience in aviation. Our mission is to empower young engineers, inspire future STEM learners, and contribute to society with sustainable unmanned aircraft that help protect the environment.
We offer hands-on engineering training for university students, high school students, and participants from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our workshops cover aerodynamics, composite manufacturing, CAD, FEA, avionics, and flight science. By using the inspiring appeal of aircraft, we encourage younger students to explore STEM fields and understand how scientific principles are applied in real life.
We believe that being part of a technical project brings people together, strengthens integration, and helps everyone feel the value of teamwork, curiosity, and scientific approaches. Our teams work together from concept to flight and we aim to make aerospace knowledge open and reachable for everyone. Our values include innovation, sustainability, inclusion, teamwork, and education for the benefit of society.

Why We Exist?
Many students want real engineering experience but lack access to practical projects or English speaking technical communities. FLARE Darmstadt fills this gap by offering an inclusive environment where students learn, build, test, and innovate together.
Innovation, sustainability, teamwork, inclusion, scientific integrity, and education for all.
Our Activities
UAV Research and Development
We design, model, and test unmanned aircraft with a focus on clean energy, structural efficiency, and environmental applications such as forest fire detection.
Competition Participation
We represent Darmstadt students in international UAV competitions, where our teams design and fly aircraft built entirely by students.
Engineering Workshops and Training
We provide practical training for university and high school students, covering aerodynamics, CAD, FEA, composite manufacturing, avionics integration, and flight testing.
Youth STEM Outreach
We run hands on activities for younger students to introduce them to engineering and spark interest in science and technology.
Social Inclusion Through Engineering
We create an international team environment that helps people with diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds gain technical skills, connect with others, and experience real project belonging.
Environmental Innovation Projects
We work on sustainable aviation solutions, including solar powered UAV concepts, lightweight structures, and early forest fire detection systems.
